Dr. Bryan Fox has always had a gift for music. He earned a scholarship to Murray State University for his trumpet skills. His mastery of the guitar pushed his song “Yes” to the #1 spot on local charts for 8 weeks straight while he was attending the University of Louisville Dental School in 2003. He’s had four songs on hold by major recording stars, and was called “one of the greatest songwriters around” by a nationally recognized music producer. By any measure, Bryan Fox is a real rock star… although he switched to country around 2005. He’s also a rock star to his dental patients. With his relaxed style, and casual personality, Fox is a top producer for the Mortenson Family Dental group in Louisville, where he sees dentistry and music as, “a marriage of two great careers.” He says, “Art is such an integral part of dentistry. I find the motor skills I’ve developed playing an instrument help me perform dentistry.” He performs with his band, Bryan Fox and the Good Chiggins, around Louisville and Nashville most weekends, where Mortenson Family Dental staff and patients are regulars in the audience. “It’s a nice excuse to hang out outside the office,” he says. While he’s clearly an accomplished musician, Dr. Fox’s passion is really writing. He was surprised to learn, early in his career, “that most big artists don’t write their own songs.” He hopes to “write some great music I’m proud of, share it with people, and hopefully have some songs published and make a few dollars in royalties.” Dr. Fox’s goal is, “To be happy doing what I’m doing.” And while he expects to be practicing dentistry for a long time, he confesses, “If I have to be the rock star and go on a worldwide tour, I’ll do it!” You can check out his newest album, “It’s Going To Be That Kind Of Night,” and his newest video single, “Gasoline,” at BryanFoxBand.com
